AUGMENTED REALITY

                      AUGMENTED REALITY MONDLY LANGUAGES

Hello again, today I will tell you about an augmented reality application and its effects on language acquisition. The name of the application is Mondly AR.

First of all, I'd like to start with the definition of Augmented Reality. Have you ever considered the difference between Augmented and Virtual Reality? The two are actually different, even if they look like very similar.
Augmented Realirty (AR), refers to a simple combination of real and virtual (computer-generated) worlds. Superimposing virtual objects on real images by using object recognition feature of devices is called Augmented Reality. You need to have access to the internet, to have a device that is suitable for applying augmented reality and to download the application developed for augmented reality to your device.

MondlyAR app

The area of usage is very large of Augmented Reality. It can be used in many fields such as education, decoration, tourism, arts and museums, logistics, real estate, games, shopping...
I first saw it in Ikea's application but I didn't know that it was called augmented reality. With that application, you can virtually place the furniture you want to buy and you can see if it fits or not.
Here is the link of the application--- APPLICATON OF IKEA

Augmented reality is also used in the area of education.
(You see me and my virtual friend on the left:)) ). I believe
that augmented reality enhances learning but to a certain point. I mean, elementary level students can improve their English to some extent. They can learn animals, colors, basic/common words. After some point, they need to support their learning process with other resources.
I tried the app ''MondlyAR'' last week. I chose to learn Italian because I take Italian courses this year. This application helped me learn the names of several animals. It changes the way we learn, the application is unusual. It is available for both Android and iOS users.
-You have to pay if you want to learn more.
-Also, it offers limited learning opportunity.
+ It gives us the opportunity to interact with the character.
+Virtual assistant uses a human voice in order to give a realistic effect.

Application made me feel like a kid. After a while, I was bored.

This technology can be improved much more and applications can cost less if producers/developers are supported by the government.

THANK YOU FOR READING! NEXT TIME I'LL EXPLAIN VIRTUAL REALITY.
IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS,  YOU CAN LEAVE A COMMENT BELOW or YOU CAN SEND ME AN E-MAIL. :)

New technological applications come into our life almost every day. It is inevitable to use those technological devices in the field of education for efficient teaching and learning. Socrative is a way of giving students an immediate feedback. It's a platform that you can create quizzes for your students in the forms of ''multiple choice'', ''true/false'', ''short answers''. Also, It creates a competitive area for students.

Teachers login and select an activity appropriate to the topic described in the classroom.
Students login with their device and interact real time with the content (room number is required).

Now, I'll show you how to create quizzes step by step:

As you see, it is very simple to create quizzes!
It is also a very effective way to increase students participation, in addition being useful for the teacher.

BLACKBOARD

blackboard learn ile ilgili görsel sonucu
Hello everyone! I hope you're doing well!
Today I'll be talking about a learning tool, Blackboard. So, what is Blackboard? Blackboard is a learning management system like Moodle. It’s a tool that allows faculty to add resources for students to access online. Resources are added into Blackboard courses for students to enhance teaching. It’s an flexible, learner achievement centered tool, that’s why you can use any theory to teach your online course.
It's not free like Moodle, so it has a more user-friendly interface than Moodle.  It’s a paid service and its market is bigger , it can be used by government and schools. If you have money and also if you want it to be professional, you should use Blackboard.

Online learning can be done in a synchronous or asynchronous environment. In a synchronous environment, students and instructors have instant or "real-time" interaction. Course members need to meet at a certain time and this may seem to be a negative aspect. Setting a clock, however, can help students keep track of everything as needed and manage their time. An example of a synchronous tool is Blackboard Collaborate. In Collaboration, your class can be gathered for a course. You can organize office hours, work sessions, improvised developing discussions and invite guest speakers.

As you can see, there are various courses on Blackboard and you give roles to these courses. Roles control access to tools and content within a course. Each user is assigned a role for each course in which he or she participates. For example, a user with the role of ''Teaching Assistant'' on one course may have the ''Student'' role on another course.

You can be sure that you can give all students the opportunity to succeed with Blackboard. You can set courses and change their contents. You can give your students homework, take exams, grade them, set goals for them and even track their performance.

There is much more to say about the Blackboard, but these are what I can tell you. If you want to get lost in the depths of the Blackboard and discover it yourself, here is the website; Blackboard Ally LMS

I'll be giving information about Moodle on my next post! See you soon!

YOUR ONLINE CLASSROOM, EDMODO!

Edmodo is an educational website where students and teachers can communicate, solve problems, and share useful information. As a student, you can join different classes, and you can create classes as teachers and give studies to your students. Parents can also join these classes and follow the development of their children.
It is used a as a resource. Edmodo can be adapted to any class in a variety of ways. For example, when I was in first grade, we used this website in two different ways. In one of them, we shared our writing assignments and our teacher gave us feedback; in the other, we summarized and shared with each other the sections in which we were responsible.
It is a very useful application that enhances both students' and teachers' improvement.
Students can be assessed by teachers, surveys can be done. As you see, how you would use EDMODO can be different depending on what you are teaching, the environment you work in.

Also, you don't have to carry your laptop with you all the time. There is a mobile application for EDMODO! The more you communicate with your friends, the faster you answer the questions in your head. Edmodo is a very simple application to set up and use. It takes very short time and very little effort. PINTEREST!?

HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF or USED PINTEREST?

Pinterest is online version of keeping collection of things in a scrapbook on a bulletin board. It’a website that helps you to organize pictures/ideas through a series of user created categories of boards and a series of bookmarks that is called pins. Pinterest pins can be photos, videos, drawings, animations and internet links. There are tons of topics on Pinterest. That’s why you can be sure about finding something that interests you.

There are lots of reasons to use pinterest. You can use it for inspiration for art, decorating, styling or to discover new travel destinations. Also you can use it to find things that make you laugh and businesses use Pinterest to advertise and promote themselves.
Also, I use Pinterest to find some useful and beneficial charts that enhance learning!

There are four steps you need to follow to find out how does it work;
  1. sign up for an account
  2. create your own custom boards (You can create one for any category of pins you’d like to keep)
(You can have a board for minimalist bedroom ideas or a board for recipes..)
  1. Add pins to the boards youve created. (You can create new pins or you can pin things that other people have already added to Pinterest.)
  2. Connect with your friends and family by linking your pinterest to your other social media accounts.

I usually use my Pinterest account to find different nail arts, room decorations, and useful/easy photography tips. I'm interested in photography as an amateur and I'm planning to post something about photography next time.

WHAT IS MOODLE ?

Moodle is an acronym for "Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment." It is an online educational platform that provides learning environments for students. Teachers can create lessons, interact with other teachers and students, manage courses with Moodle. Also, students can review the class calendar, submit assignments, take quizzes, and interact with their classmates.

Teachers can create virtual classrooms and students can access videos, documents, and tests on this platform.

There are a lot of options for teachers to customize their learning environment. For instance, Some teachers may use Moodle to simply provide documents to students, while others may use it as the primary interface for quizzes and tests.

You need to download and install Moodle on a web server to create a Moodle.

Teachers use their native languages to teach but Moodle works in over 100 languages. So, learners and teachers are able to talk to each other in Moodle and stay in touch through messaging. Also, students can share their ideas in forums and take a look at different ideas and comments.

I haven't started using it yet but I think it is a very good platform for teachers to inspire and support their students.

Which countries use this application more?
Here are the top ten countries; USA, Spain, Brazil, UK, Mexico, Germany, Australia, Colombia, Italy, India.

WHAT IS SECOND LIFE?

After I learned that we could use online sources to get education like second life, I did some research about it. Second life is an online virtual world launched on June 23,2003. In this platform, we can create virtual representations of ourselves, we can interact with people (other avatars). We can even get
education from there in virtual classes! We can meet people from all around the world,
and talk to them without hesitation because they can’t see us, they can only see the avatar we create.

Some people are playing this game just for fun, but some people (some teachers) use this application to give a lesson. Teachers who give lessons on online platforms realized that students’ participation in the classes increased.

I was shocked when our teacher said that we could use these kind of applications to get education because I thought that the education we got in normal classrooms was more effective. However, these days, students spend more time with technological devices to study or to entertain themselves. Also, in order to educate 21st century children, we need to create resources that meet the requirements of 21st century.

There was no problem during the installation. However, it is an undeniable fact that  I have had some difficulty with adapting to technological resources because I have been studying with an old technology like books.
As I customize my character and discover the cities , I think I'll get used to the game. If we use our imagination broadly, this game can become a very good opportunity for us.

AUDIOLINGUAL METHOD

         WHAT IS AUDIOLINGUAL METHOD?

It's also called Army Method. This method is still in use today, normally as a pat of individual lessons. It's a style of teaching used in teaching foreign languages. It is based on behaviorist theory, which professes that certain traits of living things, and in this case humans could be trained through a system of reinforcement, correct use of a trait would receive positive feedback while incorrect use of that trait would receive negative feedback.
This approach to language learning was similar to another, earlier method called the direct method.[citation needed] Like the direct method, the audio-lingual method advised that students be taught a language directly, without using the students’ native language to explain new words or grammar in the target language. However, unlike the direct method, the audio-lingual method didn’t focus on teaching vocabulary. Rather, the teacher drilled students in the use of grammar.

IT IS IMPORTANT FOR TEACHERS TO PREVENT STUDENT ERRORS SINCE ERRORS LEAD TO THE FORMATION OF BAD HABITS POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT HELPS STUDENTS TO DEVELOP CORRECT HABITS.

THE MORE OFTEN THE STUDENTS REPEAT SOMETHING, THE STRONGER THE HABIT AND THE GREATER THE LEARNING.

In Michael Gerald’s video you’ll see him presenting a dialogue to the classroom and students listen to him.
